Material Selection Begins With the Application.
The performance of a composite structure depends on more than the nominal properties of its constituent materials.
Material form, fibre architecture, matrix chemistry, processing conditions, environmental exposure and quality requirements all influence the suitability of a material system.
DANTA evaluates material options in relation to the intended component and manufacturing process.
Reinforcement Options.
Carbon Fibre Composites
A high stiffness-to-weight ratio, engineered for demanding structural applications. Suitability depends on fibre grade, resin system, laminate design, loading, environment and process. Potential applications include selected aerospace, UAV and industrial structures.
Aramid Fibre Composites
May be considered where impact response, toughness or other application-specific properties are important. Selection must account for mechanical requirements, environmental conditions and manufacturing compatibility.
Glass Fibre Composites
Can be appropriate where electrical, mechanical, environmental or cost considerations influence material selection. Suitability must be evaluated against the intended performance requirements.
Thermoset, Thermoplastic, Towpreg and Prepreg.
Thermoset Systems
Resin systems that cure into a cross-linked structure. Requirements may include controlled storage, out-time management, placement conditions and a defined curing cycle.
Thermoplastic Systems
Polymer matrices processed through suitable heating and consolidation methods. Handling, processing temperatures, consolidation behaviour and equipment compatibility must be considered.
Towpreg and Prepreg
Pre-impregnated materials combine reinforcement with a controlled matrix formulation. Formats may include narrow tapes, towpregs or other forms, matched to the AFP equipment and process.

- Material form and dimensions
- Storage and handling requirements
- Shelf life and out-time limits
- Processing temperature
- Consolidation and curing requirements
- Environmental resistance
- Supplier qualification
- Batch traceability
- Inspection and acceptance requirements
Materials Selected for Defined Manufacturing Requirements.
DANTA's material strategy is based on evaluating suitable materials against engineering requirements and manufacturing compatibility.
Material selection and supplier approval should be supported by technical data sheets, relevant certifications, traceability documentation and appropriate material qualification evidence.
Specific supplier names and material grades will be published only after the relationship, supply status and approved product specifications are confirmed.
